Day 2: Exploring Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino

After traveling through all sorts of time zones and going to bed at 5:30pm, we all woke up bright and early the first real morning in SML. We started taking in the sights.

The first morning, we found a caffe that would turn out to be our favorite breakfast spot. All of us met and started our day here almost every morning.

The coffee and treats were delicious. But surprisingly, we all gravitated to sandwiches for breakfast. No, not your traditional American egg sandwich you would expect for breakfast. These were caprese and prosciutto and such served on the most delicious focaccia.

Look at this view, how would you not spend every morning at this table planning your day?

We watched the locals launching their sail boats...

Mo was upset this guy stole his boat and his speedo.

Then, we hung out in the beautiful park by one of our apartments as we waited for the ferry to Portofino.

A view of Santa Margherita Ligure from the ferry.

And now Portofino, the home of the rich and famous.

With hikes up to sculpture gardens

And hikes up to castles with more gorgeous views, of course.

Halfway up

All the way at the top... If only we had Johan's selfie stick.

While we hiked, Mo took his first siesta of the trip. You will note a trend, Mo is worried the blog might become "Mo sleeps through Europe."

Then, thanks to Rick Steves recommendation, dinner at Del Baffo. A pitcher of wine and some of the most delicious food ever.
